Eric Wright clean up with B&M Waste’s Carbon Neutral service

Managing a large number of properties across the North West across the public and private sectors, Eric Wright FM is a massively growing facilities management company with sustainability high up on their agenda. The desire to ensure the most environmentally friendly and cost efficient waste management solution for their clients meant a clear alignment with B&M Waste Services, who offer a Carbon Neutral solution tailored towards increasing recycling through segregation of recyclable materials at source, and diverting residual waste from landfill. This month the partnership, which commenced in late 2016 is now celebrating the success of the schemes, having achieved 100% diversion of waste from landfill across the Eric Wright portfolio which it services.

We’ve introduced separate bins and collections for paper & card, glass and mixed recycling acri, which has reduced the general waste which previously went to landfill. All materials are recycled, or in the case of non-recyclable waste, it is 100% diverted from landfill as it is processed at a combined heat and power station which produces heat and power for local homes and businesses.”

The results of this work together are clear, 100% diversion from landfill and increased recycling of paper, card and glass. The indirect carbon emissions saved through landfill diversion for all waste streams in the first quarter this year equated to 1850kg of carbon; the equivalent of 5 trees or 912 miles in a car.
